Today I am thankful for John Steelbuns, BRA member extraordinaire. You see Steelbuns is not training for a race. Nor does he particularly love running. He loves PBR. He loves his dog, Boss. And he loves lots of snarky commenting on facebook.
However, due to his need to
get a good run in continue drinking PBR and not be 400 LBS, he must run occasionally. Yesterday I asked him to accompany me on my 8 miler. It was by far the hottest run of the summer. But he kept me going. He was like my own personal Dink Dink. He told me some off color stories, as per usual, and made fun of me, as per usual, and set up our half way point with water and Gatorade.
So today, I thank you John Steelbuns. Without your help I may have passed out and gone missing. They’d have to send out a search party for my dehydrated butt.
(Combing the desert, get it?) That’s how hot it was. (Oh, and thanks for all the awesomely supportive comments yesterday. You guys rock!)
What are you thankful for today?
UPDATE: Check out one of my new favorite blogs, and not just because today is my playlist. Music Savvy Mom.
Great job on a hot 8 miler. Nice to have someone push you along.
Good job on the 8 miler!!! It is hot out there!!! I have not been enjoying this nasty hot weather! Glad to see another fellow PBR lover! It cracks me up to find people (especially younger folks) who enjoy it because I honestly thought my dad was the only one! HA Love it!
Sounds like quite a guy! Love the comb-the-desert pic!
your bi-athlon will be awesome, and you are lucky to have a PBR-loving friend! I can't seem to escape the PBR love – such a funny obsession these boys have with it.
Oh, oh! I am thankful for the picture provided because I just assumed that your run was "hot" because of the presence of Senor Steelbuns.
Nice Spaceballs reference. You can call today's run "Spaceballs the Run".
man, i am TOTALLY loving your playlist… i'm adding some of those songs to mine FOR SURE! 🙂
Sounds like a great running partner! Nice job on the hot run!
I'm thankful for having a nice breakfast with my man. For greek yogurt. For listening to Arcade Fire in teh background of my house. For my upcoming weekend in the mountains. For health. For my love and my family. I like thankful thursdays!
Cool pic…and I love the dog's name. I am thankful for a room full of giggling 2 year olds this am when I dropped my son off. I play "tickle bugs" with them and they go NUTS laughing. There are 10 of them. The best part after Ticklebug time? I LEAVE and go to work. 🙂
sounds like a great partner and nice run! : ) way to go!
Great playlist! It's so nice to have a running partner. Way to go on the 8 mile run! I am thankful for when my Husband runs with me.
Yay for getting in the hot 8 miler!
For some reason "steelbuns" and "PBR" don't seem to go together. Maybe it's just me.
Yay for running partners! They can really transform a horrid run into a good one. BTW, why on earth are those people in the photo walking along the dessert with a gigantor comb…?? I don't get it. so weird. 🙂
I am thankful for my family and my scrappy fixer-upper house. Like me, it's falling apart in places but there's still hope.
I'm also thankful that I'm not the only one who liked Spaceballs. 🙂
I'm thankful for school supplies at Target. And Daughtry's new album. And the Internet, where I can connect with awesome people! 😉
Also, I'm in awe of your running 8 miles all at once.
And your post reminds me of those beer commercials: Here's to you Mr. Set Up The Gatorade Station. Here's to you Mr. Off-Color Story Teller.
There are so many things about this post that cracked me up! Girl, you're hilarious 🙂
I'm thankful its 98 degrees outside and not the 100+ degrees its been. 😀
I'm thankful for the Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich that I had tonight. Sometimes it just hits the spot. It always amazes me when other people worship the PBR like my hubs does. Ick.
that photo is so dorky but yet i love it b/c i am a dork 🙂
nice job on trucking it through the hot 8 miler! the heat is brutal some days, but can't let it win all the time.
Stopping by from SITS to give a little blog ♥
Very funny pic.
I'm thankful for…health and my body no matter what size it may become some day (you'll have to see my blog to totally understand this one)
I'm thankful that I've got my internet back so I can read about your running adventures! Way to go on your sunny and hot eight miler!
MAAAAN WE AINT FOUND SH*T!
