Yep. I have been experiencing blogger fail lately. I keep being reminded of Aron’s post about “if you don’t have anything nice to say,” because quite frankly I’ve been pretty down in the dumps lately and don’t have a lot of nice things to say at the moment. I hate not running. I know I am healing but I definitely need to stop focusing on the negative.
For example, I actually did get to run this week, on Tuesday. Granted it was a little over two miles and my leg has been grouchy since, but still I was a very happy girl. I also swam. Oh and I scored a great deal on an unlimited month of yoga! Plus, my 5K, which is in less than two weeks (YIKES!), has exceeded the goal number of registrants!
In non-working out news, I went to a super fabulous post-marriage reception this weekend to celebrate none other than new blogger Kat‘s nuptials. I would like to say that the wedding photo booth is my new favorite thing.

Since this post is all over the damn place and I have no good segue way for what I’m thankful for today, I may as well just launch right into it.
Today I’m thankful for The Lazy Runner.
The LR and I met through Red. They were running buddies a while back. She moved to Michigan and he moved to Tampa and from our first email exchanges I thought I’d probably kill him in about a week. Heh. You see, Red dubbed him the Lazy Runner because he didn’t like to follow plans or stick to schedules and would just show up on little sleep, haul ass on a long run and smile the whole time. Quite frankly he’s the opposite of me and Red’s uber organized OCD running styles.
He would email me at random asking where the next local run was and what time and I’d politely try to direct him to various websites to get the information. Smart guy that he is though, he’d just keep emailing me and I’d just keep telling him. Why go to the site when you could just email local OCD runner B.o.B.?
After a while though he started to find new runs on his own and tell me to mix it up and stop running the same routes over and over again. We actually became good friends and he helped me through several training runs before Miami. I’d be huffing and puffing and he’d be talking and laughing the whole time. Don’t let the name fool you, LR is a great runner.
When I moved to another part of town, LR kept telling me to venture out and try new runs. And due to my move, I had no choice but to heed his advice. You know where this is going don’t you? I listened to him and ran with new groups in new locations and lo and behold – I love it! I’ve met so many new people and made so many new friends that I credit LR for helping me break my OCD running rut.
In addition to helping me break my rut, LR is the Co-Director for my upcoming 5K. In fact, he’s the one who pushed us to get it started. We’ve actually turned out to be a great working pair. Where I’m not great with all of the socializing and email marketing, he’s not great with the organizing and budgeting. And when I’m feeling stressed and over whelmed with the race, he’ll set me right and keep the ball rolling.
I’m truly thankful to have LR as a friend and “business” partner.
What are you thankful for today?
I'm thankful for open bar, rice krispies, photo booth pics to laugh at, and PINKBERRY!
Half of the fridge's freezer door is wedding photo booth photos right now at our house. I love them. I'm glad we did it at our wedding.
OMG I am cracking up at your photo booth pics!!!
LR, oh LR, where would we be without him? He's helped us both break out of our shells and certainly done his fair share of annoying the crap out of us too. 🙂
I love the photo booth idea from Kat's wedding. Looks like so much fun! 🙂
you make an excellent cowgirl
LR's a great guy indeed. Glad your 5k is coming together nicely! Love the fros on you and P-Funk.
wedding photobooths = best invention ever. cute pics.
i'm thankful for music. and cheese. plain and simple 🙂
I love wedding photo booths! I have such a fun time making a fool of myself in them 🙂
I tend to only right about the positive/glossy things going on in my life but there comes a time when writing the down-in-the-dumps post are really helpful too! Hope you are feeling better and have a lovely weekend!
lovin' your pics…and don't worry about not always being positive, hell, we are all ONLY human…gotta take the good with the bad! xoxo!
That's really cool to have running frieds become real life ones. As for photo booths, they have them at my 6th grader's school parties. And her goofy pics then completely befuddle my 4 year old.
I'm thankful I found the time to read your blog today…and that you're an amazing writer, photo partner, athlete, race organizer and friend!
Thankful for new friends: Kat & LR! Who knew running brings so many fabulous people together!
