Today I am thankful for progress. As in moving forward, development and growth, and steady improvement.
Without progress we wouldn’t have the Internet. We’d still be going to the library. I apologize if this offends some of you, but I really don’t care about the library. I can’t sit at the library in my old pajamas, t.v. blaring, while eating pickles and petting my dog, the attack terrier Lloyd. And worst of all, no Internet = no blogging.
Without progress we wouldn’t have electricity, aviation, indoor plumbing, and good safe-for-the-most-part road systems. We wouldn’t have a national parks system, roller coasters, or marathons in every state. We wouldn’t have movie theaters, IPODs, or toe socks. (We wouldn’t have as much pollution either, but that’s another blog altogether.)
And for me, without progress, I wouldn’t continue to train and toil six days a week at this running thing. I’m happy to report that thus far I am hitting all my days and paces*. I ran all 5 hills on Monday, 5 mile recovery on Tuesday, 7 mile MLR yesterday, and am going to tackle the Ring of Fire today, and a 14 miler on Saturday. Why? Because I am seeing the benefits: getting faster, feeling stronger, and I love a good strawberry banana energy gel in the morning.
Mind you, I am only about three weeks in, but I am seeing progress. And, as Martha Stewart (who I am mildly afraid of) would say, that’s a good thing.
*My paces aren’t super fast, so I’m only sort of hard core. Still working on that. 😉
What are you thankful for today?
I'm thankful for all of these things & the fact that we're free. I've been reading the Diary of Anne Frank & I've realized more and more just how lucky we are.
Good post, I'm thankful for that too!
I am thankful that I have no injuries preventing me from running!
Good for you, girl! Your motivation is definitely inspirational… makes me wanna MOVE!
Great post – and always lots to be thankful for!! I'm thankful for the ability to run (bike/swim!! And for awesome training weather 🙂
I'm thankful I still had PB&J in my cubby at work since I left my wallet at home on the counter. I'm thankful for baby grins. I'm thankful for blogging because it provides an outlet and makes you feel better for putting it out there regardless if anyone "hears" it. Happy Thursday.
I'm thankful for having two legs to run, two eyes to see all the sights around me while I run and for waking up every morning to be able to achieve both!
When I started to run, I began to get creepily fascinated with my own calves. Seriously.
Good for you! You're so inspiring!
I am thankful for this fun vacation I get to take with my husband! We're visiting his grandparents in Tennessee & Kentucky, and it's so lovely to get away from 100 degree weather and into a nice 75 degrees. We're going hiking & biking too 🙂 yea!
What a nice post. There's so much to be thankful for. I'm thankful for my heath and family/friends. Without these things, I'd be lost.
Can you imagine life before the internet? I honestly don't know how I would stay in touch with friends, shop, find new information, check up on the latest news….the list is endless! I am definitely thankful for the internet!
I am thankful for today which is a beautiful summer day one I will soon be enjoying during a 10 mile run, I'm thankful for my health, happiness, family and— oh yeah– for beer!
great post! Thanks for helping us remember the important things in life!
awesome job on the running this week 🙂 seeing progress is always so great!
Some good thoughts! sometimes I think I could use a day off from the internet – there is so much we can do – I love it! I'm addicted. I am thankful that I can spend time staying home with my little guy and watching his every development!
Great post! I'm thankful that you're my new bloggy friend and that you take the time to leave nice comments for me which I really appreciate! Because even though the site counter SAYS that people are reading my blog- unless someone leaves a friendly comment now and then it just doesn't feel like anyone is! So thank you!!
I'm thankful that you reminded me to be thankful! Today I'm especially thankful for my wonderful family. I feel so lucky that I was raised by two amazing people.
i like getting books from the library but you're right, probably not allowed to lounge around in pj's! 🙂
i am thankful that i can go running any day i want without any injuries or physical roadblocks, or any of those lame middle-eastern rules where women can't do crap.
Great post! I'm thankful for finding a ton of runners that blog and keep me motivated!
No biggie if you're not super fast…you're still hard core for being able to fit all those workouts in!
Great post! You are doing great! Keep up the dedication and hard work! It will pay off!!
Excellent post! Those are the same reasons that I keep putting one foot in front of the other for hours on end!
But the Internet? I thought that was Al Gore's baby….
I can't sit at the library in my old pajamas, t.v. blaring, while eating pickles and petting my dog, the attack terrier Lloyd. And worst of all, no Internet = no blogging.
Ditto that! I am also very thankful for the internet!
