Again, this is a running blog. But again, I DO WHAT I WANT and it’s October 1st. So I am going to be thankful today for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios (HHN).
Have I mentioned that I love Halloween?
My best friend J Dub, her boyfriend The Nick, and I make up a triumvirate of HHN groupies. We begin planning for this event as soon as we can. We are actually going this Sunday!
If you have never been it’s amazing. It’s basically six to eight haunted houses with different themes every year. In addition to the houses they have scare zones and shows. My favorite show is Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure show. Yeah, that Bill and Ted. But they do a great job with the show and make it all the pop culture heroes of the year versus the pop culture villains of the year. The show is risque and hilarious.
As far as the houses and scare zones, they are really good! Good as in scary and gory and thrilling and so dark you can’t see! The make-up they do on the “scare-actors” is just superb. Most of the time I am in so much awe at the sets, make-up, and design that I don’t get scared. Although they do get me now and again.
Last year they had an entire Alice in Wonderland section that was so cool!
See for yourself…
I hope those didn’t scare the poop out of any of you.
What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful the cat hasn't hurled on the carpet…yet!
I LOVED the Alice in Wonderland scare zone last year! I wanted to be a character so bad! I think the fairy tale house was my fav for sure. Also I loved the Rocky Horror Picture Show which reminds me… the cineplex does midnight showings of it every Saturday and I must go see it! We should try to see it the weekend of Navy Steve's IM. I love that you love Halloween as much as I do!!!! 🙂
I am thankful for padded bras. Without which I seriously couldn't fill a single shirt I own right now.
I'm terrified of haunted houses!!!
Today I'm thankful that I made it to work without crying in the car. I'm all about celebrating the small victories. 🙂
I used to love to go to haunted houses, the scarier the better! I haven't been in years. Maybe me and the hubs will have to take Maddie this year. Those are great pics! I love Halloween too; I've already seen houses with decorations up!
Yeah I can't do haunted houses. I'm a chicken! I would have nightmares for weeks if I went. Although I do like to dress up for Halloween, I don't care for the scary part of it. Freddie Cougar terrified me as a kid and I never really got over it. hahaha
Last year we went to this horror fest thing at our local amusement park – same idea with multiple haunted houses. I screamed like a baby the entire time and I swear I burned 500 calories jumping out of my skin. EEK!
I am still thankful for neon green relish on great Chicago Dogs. My I recommed Dougs Dogs while you are in Chi Town. Also, entertaining blogs on running and other stuff.
I worked haunted houses in High School and College. So, I appreciate the pix. Nice make up on the Rabbit. Alice characters without the makeup/axe scares me more. BOO!
Wow– It's been a while since I checked your blog, for that I apologize– But holy cow you love Halloween! Love it, not the holiday as much as your passion for it!!! I really respect people who aren't afraid to admit things like that!! So I am thankful for people like you who just made me smile!
You almost did! I am a scardy cat (remember I won't run in the dark!)
I am thankful to the massage therapist that worked on my hips this morning and stretched me!
how fun! knott's scary farm had an alice in wonderland themed haunted house too….love it!
I'm thankful for all things that help me get better soon, including your well wishes, and movies to help pass the time (so what if I'm watching "He's Just Not That Into You."
I am thankful for crosstraining.
thankful for my awesome run this morning
and my doggy boys to play with this evening 🙂
Do you LOVE Halloween? How much???? You make me laugh!
I'm thankful for the sweet comments everyone left about the passing of my grandfather.
You like Halloween? I had NO idea 😉
I CANNOT attend such events. I'm still traumatized from a fourth grade haunted house experience. Shudder.
Yikes! Pretty freaky costumes! i'm not a huge fan of Halloween, I find that as we grow up, the girls get taller, but the outfits are still the same size as when they were 5 lol and they are all "bunnies" or something with ears and whiskers lol
Ooh, so fun! Love the Alice in Wonderland characters! Today, I am thankful for sunshine . . . and my school . . . and naps! 🙂
That rabbit is freaky.
No way. No how. Haunted houses freak me out. I am usually the basket case curled up in the fetal position rocking and crying in the corner. And if there's a clown, forget it.
