Today is the first day of my Miami Marathon training plan. I love the smell of spreadsheet in the morning!
I’m hopeful that I can get through this training plan unscathed and fit and make it to that finish line in the beautiful (and please oh please cool January temps) Miami!
I initially only signed up for this marathon because my bestie, P-Funk, decided she was ready for her third marathon and I had said all along that whenever she was ready for her next one I would be there! And guess what? It’s become a fully sanctioned BRA (my running group) event with about 20 plus runners heading south for either the marathon or half marathon. Even Caribbean Steve is shelling out the dough to run this race.
My shin has been feeling fine since my trial run on Saturday of four and a half miles and my “recovery” run of four miles on Sunday. I got my plan from Coach EK and I was surprised to see that based on what I’d like to run, I am not pantsing my poop about the various paces. They all seem doable barring anymore shin issues. I’m crossing my fingers that I can get to the start line healthily.
I’m using the Detroit Half as part of my training and am actually looking forward to freezing my buns off up there since I’ll also get to see my Boo, Red, as a bonus. (If you are running Detroit, please come say hello at the Women’s Running Magazine booth.)
Since I am taking a break from tri racing and focusing on the run I must warn you that I’m going to become a full on running junkie. I will continue to cross train because I am really loving Dolly right now but to reach my Miami goal I must commit to my first love…the run.
Oh man – I hope you didn't jinx the weather for Miami.
Bring extra bun warmers, it's grey, windy and cold up here! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr LOL
Pantsing my poop….I love that video.
Hope training is awesome.
I believe training starts for me this week too! I am so excited about training in the colder temps. It is pretty awesome that so many people I know are running Miami. I think it will help me stay focused and out of trouble! LOL
You've got this! And C. Steve is going too?! No way!!!!!!!!!
i can't wait until my stupid 70.3 is over and i can be a running crackhead again. HOORAY!
You are going to rock the 305 in January! I can see you running thru SoBe, down Ocean Drive, sprinting under the urine smelling overpasses. I speak from experience with the latter part. I hope to not be jacked up too much from IMFL so I can go too … if it isn's sold out before I can make my decision. Happy, Healthy training!
I know running makes you happiest of all so you should do great. Laugh at your shin the next time it teases you.
Hooray for training time!
Three more weeks of tri training and I will be a full blown run junkie as well.
I LOOOOOOOVE a new training plan! Here's to hoping the shin pain stays away. And, in case I haven't said it 12 times already, I'm super jealous that you're running Detroit. 🙂
We are soooo in the same boat! I am toying with the Miami Marathon too. I would like a Feb thon but I think I can swing this. I'm slowly coming back from my tibia stress fx. I'm up to 6 miles. I feel horrible ditching the bike and swim so much. I'm going to try and keep the swim for 2 days a week and bike once. But running is my sport! I'm so glad we have some mileage creeping back in. YAY!
Good Luck lady. I will be following your training for sure.
Woohoo!!! Here we go BOB here we go!!! So excited for you!
I would like to correct one thing, though. C Steve is not shelling out much $ for this race. He got a free entry off of Dorcas, he's certainly going to carpool and I bet he'll be sleeping under somebody's bridge!
