I've got less than 24 hours to go until my very first triathlon. Of course they say you never forget your first and I'm counting on that. I've gotten over my jitters for the most part and am just ready to get ill.
No, no, no I don't mean get ill in the vomit-poop-your-pants kind of way, I mean it in the Ad-Rock, Mick D, and MCA way. You know...the Beastie Boys way.
Typically before a race I look for some inspiration. Being that I'm a pop-culture junkie it normally comes through some cultural medium. For my last marathon it came by way of Quentin Tarantino's Bride from Kill Bill. But for this triathlon, for some reason, I keep hearing the Beastie Boys in my head.
They keep saying stuff like "It's time to get ill!" and "Check-ch-check-check-check-ch-check it out. What-wha-what-what-what's it all about? Work-wa-work-work-work-wa-work it out! Let's turn this motherf*ckin' party out!"
